The Citizens Trust
The Citizens Trust is a well-established provider of Welfare to Work programmes. The organisation was formed in 1996, as the Disability Times Trust, under the Chairmanship of Lord Morris of Manchester, the UK’s first Minister for Disabled People. After several years of successfully delivering services to disabled people, the need became apparent for support for many other potentially disadvantaged communities - such as lone parents, asylum seekers, older people, people from minority ethnic backgrounds and ex-offenders. To reflect that need, the trading name was changed to The Citizens Trust, under which banner the organisation now offers its services to all sections of the community.
Our Mission Statement:
-
To develop innovative ways to improve the lives, status and employability of disabled and disadvantaged people, thus promoting inclusion.
-
To provide training, information and counselling for disabled and disadvantaged people and, where appropriate, help them gain employment.
-
To deal with social issues which arise from the problems associated with disadvantage and disability.
-
To give advice and guidance in practical matters pertaining to issues of disability and potential disadvantage.
-
To assist ex-offenders and prisoners about to be discharged from custody by providing support and re-training, in order to reduce re-offending rates.
Our Values:
The Trust acknowledges the natural dignity of everyone, regardless of ethnic origin, background or personal circumstances. We aim to promote a climate of equality through acceptance, mutual respect and empathy and operate a culture of fairness, openness and honesty for all.
